Buying your Eternity Ring

An eternity ring like a wedding ring is given as a sign of everlasting love and commitment.

There is alot of confusion of when an eternity ring should be given, most commonly eternity rings are given on the birth of your first child or for an anniversary. However there is no correct time to give an eternity ring.

There are many different styles used for an eternity ring but the more traditional styles are channel, mill grain or flush set rows of diamonds across the top of the desired alloy. You can get eternity rings starting anything from 5 diamonds upto a full eternity ring. A full eternity ring can cause a few concerns when it comes to the general sizing of the ring and unfortunately the cost of a full eternity ring can be of concern to you. We would personally recommend only having stones set upto 3/4′s of the way round as this will give the effect of a full eternity but having the security of knowing it can be sized in the future.

Eternity rings are not just restricted to diamonds alone you can incorporate a coloured gemstone, maybe her birthstone colour? or if it is given on the birth of your first child perhaps their birthstone or even a combination of all your birthstone colours?

Another question we get asked is – where should i wear an eternity ring? There is no wrong or right place to wear an eternity ring but traditionally an eternity ring is worn with the wedding and engagement ring, but this is all down to personal choice depending on the style you can always wear the eternity ring on your wedding finger but on the opposite hand, this way you are not restricted to certain shaped or styles.

At the moment 18ct white, Platinum, and palladium seems to be the trend, and most people are opting for the white metals. Although they say yellow gold will be coming back in fashion.

Does anyone know where to find a wedding band to match a three-stone engagement ring?

It’s been really difficult for me to find a match; my engagement ring is from Kay Jewelers, but they don’t have any wedding bands that go with it well.

Personally I am not a fan of the curved wedding bands. I actually sold this ring and would always recommend a band of channel set princess cut stones to match the sides. It looks beautiful. There will be a slight gap but no one will notice, and they will be blinded by all your pretty diamonds .

Wedding ring size Problem?

We bought our wedding bands and mine is a little snug. I know its supposed to be tight but its a little uncomfortable. Its the same size as my engagement ring but since that one isnt as thick so it fits better. My wedding band is a eternity band with the diamonds going all around. I was wondering if it was possible to have him add one more diamond to make it a little bigger for me. Would it be terribly expensive? Any jewlers in the house??

A jeweler should be able to stretch the band and you shouldn’t need a new diamond. Sometimes just the slightest expansion can make a huge difference. Making is so big that you need a new diamond will probably be too big. Take it to a jeweler and explain the situation.
