I need advice with multi-player for the Wii version of Call of Duty (World at War).?

A friend of mine just bought three wii guns for this game thinking that she could play split screen. I have since learned that you cannot do split screen, but that there is something called “squad mate co-op”. However, not only can I not figure out how to access this option, but once the game screen comes up only one controller will stay on. The other two cut off (all three work fine with other games and on the wii menu screen). Thanks in advance for any help!
